Outbreak of the war; listens to the B.B.C.; disbelief of knowledge regarding the mass murder of Jews; anti-Jewish restrictions; ban on travel using public transportation; yellow badge; smuggled to Debrecen; teasing and abuse of Jews by Arrow Cross Party members; informing on and collaboration between the Hungarians and Germans; deportation of his father and brother, and their murder; deportation to the Debrecen Ghetto in a brick factory; deportation by train in the direction of Auschwitz; change of the destination of the train in the direction of Austria; arrival to Floridsdorf; camp life including forced labor clearing rubble; shelling of the camp; transfer to Strasburg; mass murder of the camp's inmates in a forest; finds a hiding place while hidden by an Austrian family; liberation, April 1945. Return to Hungary with help from the JDC organization; activities in the Hashomer Hatzair organization; aliya to Israel, 1949.
