Testimony of Zvi Eisenkraft, born in Zablotow, Poland, 1909, regarding his experiences in the Sniatyn Ghetto, Kolomyja Ghetto and in Cernauti His grandfather serves as the mayor of the city, before World War I; witness learns metalworking; move to Sniatyn. Outbreak of the war; move to the Soviet occupied zone; detention in a prison; deportation order due to his being a merchant; finds shelter with his family in Kolomyja; German occupation, 1941; declaration regarding the establishment of the Kolomyja Ghetto and the Judenrat; labor as a metal worker and a mechanic for a German company; murder of thousands of Jews in [killing] pits outside the city; receives protection from his labor foreman; rescue during the "Aktions"; care for orphan children; hides his grandfather during "Aktions" against elderly people; liquidation of the ghetto; in hiding in a bunker with his wife and son; his wife's forged work identity card; suicide of the head of the Judenrat; decision to escape in a truck; coordination of a group of escapees; obtains a guide; smuggle of the group to Cernauti, Romania; capture of some of the escapees, and their deportation back to Kolomyja; his son is fostered by a non-Jewish family; purchases a Polish passport; move of his wife and son to Bucharest.
