Soviet occupation, 1939; outbreak of the war between Germany and the Soviet Union, 22 June 1941; on vacation visiting his grandmother in Kolomyja while his parents are still in Cernauti when the war breaks out; life in the Kolomyja Ghetto; his grandmother's decision to transfer him to relatives in the Lwow Ghetto; life in the Lwow Ghetto including hunger; deportation to Gross-Rosen with a group of youth, late 1942; camp life including living quarters in Block 16; work in Breslau assembling detonators in a subterranean ammunitions factory; liquidation of the camp, late 1944; approximately one month long transfer to Ebersberg in Austria; camp life; liberation by the US Army.
