Aryanization of the family store; transfer to a Jewish school; deportation of Jews; the family is left in Humenne with a few families, 1942; deportations and finding a hiding place; help from a non-Jew; transfer to an orphanage in Budapest; German occupation, March 1944; deportation of Jews and finding a hiding place in a building in the orphanage; rescue by a Hungarian soldier; escape to Kosice with help from a messenger from her father; illegally crosses the border into Slovakia with other children; life in Slovakia including a rescue attempt of the family by a non-Jewish trustee; her father's refusal of the rescue attempt, 1944; German occupation, October 1944; life in Nove Mesto Nad Vahom including finding a hiding place in the home of a non-Jewish woman; deportation of her mother and sisters to Auschwitz; liberation.
