Testimony of Jacques Jakov Aladzhem, born in Vidin, Bulgaria, 1917, regarding his experiences in Sofia and as a forced laborer in Rudnik, Belitsa and Lovech Life before the war; traditional family; membership in the Hashomer Hatzair movement; studies law in Sofia. Outbreak of the war, 1939; work collecting monies for the WIZO organization; receives certificate as a lawyer, 1942; deportation to forced labor in Rudnik; camp life including labor producing gravel; release, December 1942; transfer to Belitsa, January 1943; camp life including labor digging a tunnel; robbery of clothing and belongings by partisans; life in tents under the guard of Bulgarians; release, November 1943; transfer to forced labor in Lovech; camp life including labor paving roads; relations with the local population; liberation by the Red Army, 1944. Return to Vidin; life under the Soviet regime; aliya to Eretz Israel on the "Kefalos" ship, 1947.
