Testimony of Zelig Indig, born in Reghin, Romania, 1928, regarding his experiences in the Reghin Ghetto, a labor battalion in Heviz and in Felsogalla Religious family. Annexation to Hungary, 1940; revocation of his father's business license; increase in antisemitism; restrictions on movement; life under the Hungarian regime, 1944; confiscation of property including their home; deportation to the Reghin Ghetto in a brick factory; overcrowding; draft to labor battalion number 110/33; transfer to Heviz; drills and humiliations; transfer to a railroad station in Monor approximately two weeks later; life in railroad cars; labor clearing rubble from the railroad tracks; deportation train of Jews of Reghin; transfer of the battalion in the direction of Austria; life in Felsogalla; escape from the camp, 24 December 1944; hides in a shelter; liberation by the Red Army. Return to Reghin; their synagogue was destroyed, and the synagogue's Torah scroll and other ritual articles were desecrated; return of his siblings; move to Italy; illegal aliya attempt on the "Shabbetai Lozinski" ship; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Israel, 1949.
