Expulsion from the German school due to being Jewish; attends a Jewish school in Leipzig; yellow badge; his mother's work in a casting factory; detention of his mother due to her friendship with a French POW; placed in a children's home in Berlin along with other children with the help of a former teacher (who had joined the Gestapo); labor in a shoemaking workshop; deportation to Theresienstadt; life in the children's home in Theresienstadt; visit by a Red Cross delegation; labor coiling engines; erasure of the witness' and his siblings' names from a list for deportation to Auschwitz with the help of the Jewish leaders; receives packages from the Red Cross; liberation. Return to Rositz; reunion with his mother; receives packages from the JDC organization; aliya to Israel with Youth Aliyah.
