German occupation, 1939; escape with her family in the direction of the Soviet Union including crossing the Bug river, November 1939; death of her baby brother; deportation to Siberia with her family; life in a camp in Siberia; men's work logging trees and women's work sewing for the Red Army; life without heating facilities; outbreak of the war between the Soviet Union and Germany; release from the camp; escape to the southern part of the Soviet Union with her family by wagon; blindness due to malnutrition; work en route; shoe repair in exchange for food; recovers her eyesight; escape to Tashkent; life in Tashkent including harassment by the NKVD. Return to Poland; life in Breslau; move to the Wetzlar DP camp; camp life including Zionist activities; aliya to Israel, 1949.
