Outbreak of the war, 1939; re-annexation to Hungary; his school is turned into a Hungarian school; draft of young people into the Hungarian Army; draft of his brother and his release; transfer of soldiers to labor battalions on the war front; Aryanization of Jewish businesses; deportation to the Polish border with Jews who are non-Hungarian citizens, 1941; abuse of the deportees by Poles; transfer of the deportees back to Czechoslovakia; life in the family's home; knowledge regarding the murder of Jews and extermination camps; receives a postcard from a female cousin in Auschwitz, 1942; concentration of the Jews, Pesach (April) 1944; request from his parents and siblings to escape; finds a hiding place in the home of non-Jews along with a friend; finds a hiding place in a forest; life in the forest including receiving food and field produce from a non-Jew; receives help from a non-Jewish woman; liberation, November 1944. Return to Sandrovo; life in Sandrovo including receiving clothing and a home from the head of the local council; attempts made to murder Jews; receives help from the JDC organization; move to Romania; aliya to Israel, 1948.
