German occupation; anti-Jewish restrictions; deportation to Auschwitz; camp life including separation from his mother and his sister; life with his brothers; transfer to Auschwitz-Birkenau; camp life including the surgical removal of a kidney, without anesthesia; transfer to a hospital for medical experiments; opening of his abdomen, and surgical removal of body organs; receives treatment by a Jewish physician from Greece; follow-up of the experiment by Josef Mengele; rescue from death in the crematorium; transfer to Flossenbuerg; camp life including labor; transfer to Gross-Rosen; camp life including labor; death march; liberation by the US Army. Return to Arta; life in Arta including reunion with his sister and his brother who returned from the camps; aliya training, 1947; aliya to Israel, 1949.
