Life before the war; well-to-do traditional family; attends a Jewish school.
Soviet occupation, 1940; nationalization of property; German-Soviet war, 1941; unsuccessful escape attempt; a Lithuanian neighbor takes over their home; deportation to the Kaunas Ghetto, August 1940; ghetto life in the sport hall in school; "Aktion"; receives food; labor with his father in a factory; the ghetto becomes a camp; life in Sanciai camp; evacuation of the camp, summer 1944; deportation to Landsberg; transfer to Dachau; camp life including sneaking to his younger brother; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau; camp life with a group of children in quarantine; transfer back to Dachau; transfer to Sachsenhausen; camp life including rescue from selection with the help of a German inmate; life with a group of non-Jewish inmates; life in Lieberose camp; labor in a factory; destruction of the factory after US Army air-raids; transfer to Sachsenhausen as a non-Jew; transfer in a death march; liberation, 02 May 1945.
