Detention of her father, 1933; deportation of her grandfather to Stutthof camp; preparations for illegal aliya to Eretz Israel; receives aliya permit from SS officers, in exchange for bribery; move to Bratislava on a bus under the escort of SS officers; sets sail on the Danube River to the port of Tulcea; illegal aliya to Eretz Israel on the "Atlantic" ship; life on the ship with German, Austrian, Czechoslovakian and Hungarian Jews; travelers who die are thrown into the sea; childbirth on the ship; end of the stock of coal and the wooden beams are torn from the ship to heat the engines; capture of the ship by the British; ship is dragged to the shores of Eretz Israel; detention in Atlit; detention in Mauritius; life in Mauritius including the separation of men and women; camp life; polio epidemic.
