Testimony of Miriam Polishuk, born in Sulita, Romania, 1924, regarding her experiences in Sulita and the Bershad Ghetto Life before the war; Hashomer Hatzair activities. Soviet occupation, 1940; outbreak of the war, 22 June 1941; unsuccessful attempt to escape; surrounded by Germans after being informed on; murder of youth before their parents' eyes; robbery of jewelry; deportation on foot covering approximately 40 kilometers a day without food or water; Jews drink from the Dniester river; typhus; her father's death; transfer to a forest; mortality of children; finding abandoned babies; transfer to the Bershad Ghetto, October 1941; ghetto life including abuse by SS officers; works as a laundress in the home of a Romanian officer in exchange for food; liberation, 1944. Return to Sulita.
