Outbreak of the war, 1939; meets refugees from Poland; re-annexation to Hungary, 1940; deportation of Jews to camps; family runs the family factory until 1941; Aryanization of the factory; sale of their animals; escape to Budapest with friends, 1941; life in Budapest including work as a delivery boy and in a stove factory; knowledge about the murder of his father in a camp; knowledge about the deportation of his mother and siblings to Auschwitz and their murder, 1944; restrictions on the Jews including yellow badge; deportation with Jewish men between the ages of 19 and 40 to a labor battalion; sleep in a threshing floor under guard by Hungarians; labor as a chef's assistant; air-raids on the place by the Allied forces; transfer of Jews from the labor battalion to Auschwitz, 15 October 1944; transfer to a pig processing plant; transfer to protected houses in Budapest by the Red Cross and the JDC; transfer to forests on foot; life in Gunskirchen including physical abuse; typhus; hospitalization. Return to Halmeu; life in Halmeu including receiving money for family property; Beitar activities; aliya to Israel, 1948.
