Outbreak of the war; deportation to the Zhmerinka Ghetto; ghetto life, 1943; yellow badge; imprisonment of Dr. Gershman, the head of the Judenrat, death of the head of the Judenrat; finds a hiding place in a cellar; deportation and murder of Jewish women, children and the elderly in a killing pit; liberation, spring 1944.
Help from the US Army; receives information about the deaths of his mother's relatives (six people) in Bar.
