Testimony of Yisrael Leifer, born in Bustina, Czechoslovakia, 1928, regarding his experiences in the Mateszalka Ghetto, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Buchenwald, Magdeburg and Schlieben From a religious family; life before the war; learns in a "heder" and yeshiva; witness' father is head of the Yeshiva. Annexation to Hungary; deportation of Jews without Hungarian citizenship to Poland; deportation to the Mateszalka Ghetto, 1944; his father brings a Torah scroll to the ghetto; ghetto life; deportation of his family to Auschwitz-Birkenau; separation form the family; transfer to Buchenwald; camp life including labor hauling rocks; transfer to Magdeburg; camp life including labor digging out anti-air-raid tunnels; transfer to Schlieben; camp life including labor in an ammunitions factory; transfer to Theresienstadt; liberation by the Red Army, May 1945. Life after the war; learns in a yeshiva; emigrates to the United States, 1949; starts a family.
