Testimony of Zoltan Bezalel Perlrot Shultz, born in Banska Bystrica, Czechoslovakia, 1931, regarding his experiences in Banska Bystrica, Zilina, Kezmarok, Plaszow, Sachsenhausen and Schwerin From a traditional well-to-do family. Outbreak of the war, 1939; restrictions on the Jews including termination of studies; forced registration of property and handing over of valuables to a local aristocrat, 1941; handing over the shop and family's apartment to a non-Jewish family, 1941; unsuccessful attempt to escape to Hungary; deportation with his parents to Zilina, June 1942; move to Kezmarok with help from a non-Jewish acquaintance; life with relatives as the acquaintance's illegitimate son; Slovak National Uprising and detention with his uncle, August 1944; deportation to Plaszow; camp life including labor repairing watches; transfer with his uncle to Sachsenhausen, October 1944; camp life including labor as an apprentice clock repairer; liquidation of the camp; transfer on foot to Schwerin, 20 April 1945; liberation by the US Army. Hospitalisation; move to Kezmarok; life in Kezmarok including studies; aliya to Israel, 1949.
