Outbreak of the war, 1939; restrictions on the Jews including ban on studies; Aryanization; deportation of Jews to Vyhne, 1942; unsuccessful aliya attempt to Eretz Israel, 1942; Aryanization of family businesses; his brother's attempt to make aliya using a false identity; his brother is informed on and arrested; his brother's death; deportation of another brother to Auschwitz; deportation to Vyhne with his parents; camp life including administration of the camp by the Hlinka Guards; his father's work sewing; hospitalization and death of his father; German occupation, summer 1944; Slovak National Uprising and his mother’s escape to forests; finds a hiding place in a cellar; liberation. Return to Topolcany; aliya training; aliya to Eretz Israel on the ship, "Providence", 1947.
