Testimony of Zvi Peer, born in Budapest, Hungary, 1931, regarding his experiences in the Budapest Ghetto, the streets of Budapest and in hiding in a villa on the outskirts of Budapest From an assimilated family. Detention of his father as disloyal to the regime; draft of his father to labor battalions; deportation of his father to Poland; escape of his father who joins the Red Army; German occupation, March 1944; leaves school; destruction of their home by hooligans; abandonment of his mother during deportation to the ghetto; decision to evade deportation; life on the streets of Budapest with his younger sister; round-up off the streets by Jews; life in hiding in a villa on the outskirts of Budapest; meets refugee children from Poland and Slovakia; contact with the Red Army, January 1945; leaves the villa; advances with the Red Army until the liberation of Budapest. Reunion with his father, an officer in the Red Army; appointment of his father as contact person with the local population; joins Bericha with his sister; aliya to Eretz Israel with Aliya Bet via Austria and Italy, 1945.
