Re-annexation to Hungary; outbreak of the war; active in smuggling Jews into Czechoslovakia; increase in antisemitism including anti-Jewish legislation; escape to Budapest, spring 1943; German occupation, March 1944; attempt to escape to Mukacevo; return to Budapest; life using a false identity including labor in a carpentry workshop; escape to a village and agricultural labor; drafted into the Hitler-Jugend; arrest by the Red Army and release; end of the war. Aliya training in Bucharest; active in collecting information about SS officers; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1947.
