Background to the deportation of Polish Jews from Germany; publication of an order by the Minister of the Interior of Poland on 15 October [1938], regarding the revocation of the Polish citizenship of Jews who left Germany; start of the deportation by the Germans before the order took effect; deportation of approximately 15,000 Jews from Germany, across the Polish border, on 28-29 October; arrest of 1,000 Germans residing in Poland by the Government of Poland in response; halt of the deportation by Germany, and an agreement to hold negotiations; friendly reception of the deportees by the Government of Poland; attempt by the Polish government to compensate the deportees for their property confiscated by Germany, [by means of] a loan received from Germany; similar step planned for Jews of Polish origin in Vienna, who stand before the danger of the confiscation of their property;
