Life under Hungarian rule from 1939; activities of the community rabbi of Mukacevo; deportation to labor camps near Mukacevo; camp life including labor as a messenger; German occupation, 1944; deportation to the Mukacevo Ghetto; reaction of the neighbors; theft of property; his mother's illness; deportation to Auschwitz; murder of his parents and siblings; transfer to Birkenau on Shavuot (28 May), 1944; transfer to Mauthausen; camp life; transfer to Ebensee; transfer to Gunskirchen; camp life including labor constructing bridges; detention in solitary confinement after stealing food; help to an uncle; liberation by the US Army. Unsuccessful aliya attempt to Eretz Israel; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1945; serves as the mayor of Lod, 1960s.
