Testimony of Esther (Kornblum) Gros, born in Rzeszow, Poland, 1922, regarding her experiences in the Rzeszow Ghetto, Szebnie, Auschwitz and Vrchlabi Ultra-Orthodox family; life before the war; financially secure family. Outbreak of the war, 1939; abuse of the Jewish population; decrees; expropriation of half of their apartment by Volksdeutsche; deportation to the Rzeszow Ghetto, winter 1941-1942; ghetto life including the deportation of her mother and younger sister; disappearance of her older sister; disease in the ghetto; death of her father on Lag B'Omer, 1942; in hiding to evade deportation; decrease of the ghetto area; selection; deportation to Szebnie, November 1943; transfer to Auschwitz; camp life including labor as an assistant to the block elder; transfer to Vrchlabi; camp life including labor in an electric lamps factory; sabotage of the factory's products; help from German inmates; liberation by the Red Army, April 1945. Return to Rzeszow; murder threats; escape to Slovakia on a train; help from Jews; marriage; aliya to Israel, 1949.
