German occupation, 1944; confiscation of their home; synagogue is turned into a stable; wanderings between various apartments; deportation of her mother on a death march to Austria; witness and her sister are placed in an orphanage in Debrecen; transfer to a Spanish protected house in Budapest; life in the protected house; liberation, February 1945.
Help from the Zionist movement; move to Debrecen; life in a children's home until September 1945; return to Budapest; earns a livelihood by knitting socks; membership in the Bnei Akiva movement; coordination by the Zionist movement to escape to Slovakia, Austria and Italy during the intermediate days of Pesach, 1949; sets sail on the "Atzmaut" ship; aliya to Israel, 07 July 1949.
