Life in Brod with the outbreak of the war; return home; capture by the police; humiliation of her father and grandfather at the police station; escape to Budapest; life in a friend's home; move to the home of Dr. Ungar, a dentist; work as his dental assistant; family receive financial support; visit to home in Brod, 1942; displays of antisemitism; visit of Adolf Eichmann in Dr. Ungar's clinic; life in hiding with her sister; hiding of her brother in the family home; rescue by a Hungarian soldier; escape attempt through the sewers; move to the Glass House; liberation at the Swedish Embassy.
