Outbreak of the war, 1939; Soviet occupation; German occupation, 1941; escape of his parents to the Soviet Union; labor with his uncle in the factory for the German Army; labor as a translator; massacre of a group of Jews by the Germans, August 1942; life in the Lomza Ghetto; transfer to the Zambrow Ghetto; deportation with a group of youths to Auschwitz-Birkenau; camp life including labor in jobs and pulling wagons of corpses; labor as an aide to the carpentry manager and responsible for weaving; obtains food through deals with a German sergeant; romance with a non-Jewish Hungarian; transfer to Allach, early 1945; camp life including labor in a subterranean factory; death march; injured from shooting and escape to a forest; liberation by the US Army.
