Testimony of Zipora Zita (Drukman) Ionai, born in Banila Pe Siret, Romania, 1924, regarding her experiences in Banila Pe Siret, Stepanki and Mogilev Well-to-do family; relations with the Romanian population; attends a Tarbut Hebrew school; activities in Hashomer Hatzair and Bnei Akiva movements. Outbreak of the war; Soviet occupation; exile of well-to-do Jews to Siberia; confiscation of property, 1939; re-annexation to Romania; murder of her father, 1940; concentration of the Banila Jews in a movie theater; deportation on foot in the direction of Ukraine; sleeps outside under the open sky; en route via Stepanki; death of her mother, brother and sister; transfer to Mogilev; life in Mogilev including mutual help; life with a female farmer and a Jewish family as a maid; typhus and tuberculosis; death of another sister. Return to Romania; sets sail on the "Transylvania" ship and aliya to Eretz Israel, 1945.
