Testimony of Yehudit (Nutovitz) Petrover, born in Sighet, Romania, 1921, regarding her experiences in the Sighet Ghetto, Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Braunschweig and Langenhorn Life before the war. Escape of her sister from Czechoslovakia home to Sighet; re-annexation to Hungary, 1940; arrival of Jewish refugees from Czechoslovakia and Poland; deportation of those without Romanian citizenship; displays of antisemitism; draft of men to labor battalions; German occupation, March 1944; registration of Jews; riots against the Jews by the local population; protection provided by three SS officers who had taken over the house; nationalization of her father's business; her father’s arrest on suspicion of concealing property; yellow badge; deportation to the Sighet ghetto; smuggling of food into the ghetto by a Hungarian friend; Judenrat; deportation to Auschwitz; sterilization with a number of additional women; labor at agriculture and digging pits; birth of her niece and her murder; injury to her foot; rescue from death in the crematorium by Mengele; keeping kosher; mutual help; deportation to Bergen-Belsen; transfer to Braunschweig; camp life including living in a cowshed and cleaning; air-raids; transfer to Langenhorn; camp life; visit from Folke Bernadotte representing the Red Cross. Move to Sweden, May 1945; aliya to Israel, 1949.
