Testimony of Vera (Kovesh) Berlinski, born in Debrecen, Hungary, 1929, regarding her experiences in the Debrecen Ghetto, Strasshof and Vienna Life before the war. Anti-Jewish legislation; a non-Jewish partner is forced into her father's business; draft of her father to forced labor; arrival of Jewish refugees from Slovakia; German occupation, March 1944; yellow badge; hiding their jewellery in the cellar; deposit of their money with the non-Jewish neighbors; Judenrat; deportation to the Debrecen Ghetto, May 1944; deportation of her father to a labor camp; transfer to a brick factory; flogging by SS and Hungarian gendarmes; liquidation of the ghetto with the help of the Jewish police, June 1944; deportation to Strasshof; meets Yugoslavian soldiers en route; sends a postcard to her father with the help of the soldiers; transfer to a camp; disappearance of her grandmother; transfer to a school which was converted into a camp in Vienna, per an agreement between Kasztner and Eichmann; labor in construction and clearing rubble; the children remain in the school and the Jewish hospital; liberation by the Red Army, May 1945. Return to Debrecen; reunion with relatives; return of their money by the neighbors; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1946.
