Outbreak of the war; draft to forced labor, 1940; transfer to Hajduhadhaz; camp life including labor building barracks for the army; transfer to Mezotelegd; transfer to Szilagynagyfalu; transfer to Mauthausen by members of the Arrow Cross, 1944; death march to Gunskirchen; liberation by the US Army.
Hospitalization and convalescence; escape via Vienna with the help of UNRRA; return to Budapest; reunion with relatives; life under the Communist regime; joins Gordonia and Maccabi youth movements; move via Vienna; aliya attempt from La Spezia; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Eretz Israel, March 1947; joins the Haganah.
