Outbreak of the war; increase in antisemitism including discrimination in school and damage to his father's livelihood; German occupation, March 1944; deportation to Ujhely; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau; transfer to Buchenwald; transfer to Rehmsdorf; camp life including labor in a fuel refinery and his father's illness with typhus, winter 1944; transfer back to Buchenwald, January 1945; camp life as a political prisoner; escape of SS personnel and their capture by the underground; liberation by the US Army, April 1945.
