From a traditional family; attends a French school and a private Jewish school; activities in Maccabi and the Scouts; community life; increase in antisemitism during the late 1930s.
Drafted into the Greek Army, 1941; release from the army with the dissolution of the army about six months later; move to Kalamoto with the intention of reaching Egypt; plan fails; return to Thessaloniki; deportation to the Thessaloniki Ghetto; underground activities; hidden by a Greek; contacts with the partisans; return to the Thessaloniki Ghetto; deportation to Auschwitz; selection; transfer to Warsaw about six months later; labor clearing rubble from the former Warsaw ghetto; transfer to Dachau with the approach of the front; transfer to a camp in the Landsberg region for those sick with typhus a few days later; labor burying the dead; liquidation of the camp; return to Dachau; death march in the direction of the Tyrol Mountains; escape from the march; liberation by the US Army, late April 1945.
