German occupation, September 1939; escape to Brzesko with his grandfather; escape to Tarnow; escape to family in Krakow; attempt to escape to the Soviet Union with his father and brother via Lezajsk; capture by the Gestapo and arrest; work clearing out apartments of Jews; escape to Lwow; return to Poland, 1940; escape to Wisnicz; deportation to Plaszow with his brother, April, 1941; camp life including labor laying railroad tracks; escape to the Krakow Ghetto with his brother; life in his aunt's house; transfer to a Siemens factory; deportation to Plaszow, autumn 1943; transfer to Czestochowa; labor manufacturing bullets for rifles; receives food from a German engineer; transfer to Buchenwald, January 1945; labor in the mines; marked as a Czech inmate; transfer to Dachau; transfer to Allach by train; liberation by the US Army. Return to Czechoslovakia; aliya to Israel, 1949.
