Testimony of Baruch Veis, born in Volchovce, Czechoslovakia, 1920, regarding his experiences in the Carpathian Ruthenia mountains, in detention in Komarno, labor camps, Budapest and the Gyor Ghetto Life before the war; member of Bnei Akiva youth movement. Re-annexation to Hungary, 1938; member in the Scouts; escape to the Carpathian Ruthenia mountains; escape to Budapest, 1941; arrest by the Hungarian police and deportation to Komarno; camp life until 1943; transfer to a labor camp in Transylvania; transfer to a labor camp in an Hungarian Army airfield; transfer to the eastern front; life there including labor digging pits to store explosives, 1944; escape and capture; transfer to Budapest; deportation to the Gyor Ghetto, June 1944; death march to the Austrian border; liberation, May 1945. Return to Volchovce; reunion with his brother and sister; work in trade; drafted into the Czechoslovakian Army, 1948; aliya to Israel, 1949.
