Testimony of Yeshayahu Shvartz Shachar, born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia, 1927, regarding his experiences in Kosice, Auschwitz, Wolfsberg camp and a death march Established family in Czechoslovakia; displays of antisemitism before the war; arrival of refugees from Germany with the Nazi rise to power, 1933; aliya of his eldest brother to Eretz Israel. Re-annexation to Hungary, 1938; attitude of the Hungarian gendarmes; decrease in the family's assets; termination of his father's work in the lumber business; help of his elder brothers to the family's livelihood; restrictions including the numerous clausus and the yellow badge; German occupation, 19 March 1944; draft of his eldest brother to forced labor in the army; deportation to a brick factory; life in the brick factory; deportation to Auschwitz, 15 May 1944; separation from his parents and younger brothers in the selection; meets twins who underwent medical experiments; transfer to Wolfsberg; camp life including labor logging trees and digging bunkers; injury; fast on Yom Kippur; a death march; typhus; liberation by the Red Army, 08 May 1945. Aliya training; aliya to Eretz Israel onboard the ship "Exodus", 1947.
