German occupation, April 1941; arrest of her father; her father is in hiding from the Ustasha; arrest of her family; confiscation of their house; escape to Italy with forged documents; arrest by the Ustasha; detention in prison; release; escape to Susak; in hiding for one month; escape to Ljubljana; in hiding; hospitalization; escape to Messina; deportation to Ferramont camp; camp life; transfer to Treviso with help from a friend; deportation to Valdobbiadene; escape; hidden by a fascist family; work in a sewing workshop; Italy's surrender, September 1943; escape from the Germans to Pescara; obtains a forged Volkdeutsche document; work for the Germans as a translater; witness and her mother join the partisans; liberation by the US Army, June 1944.
Move to Bari; return to Czechoslovakia with the partisans; learns to be a medic; move to Split; reunion with her father; life with the partisans; active combat in Banja Luka, Kupres, Jajce and Zagreb; release, April 1945; reunion with her parents; rehabilitation; aliya to Israel, 1966, absorption.
