Testimony of Miriam (Brem) Erlich, born in Kalisz, Poland, 1935, regarding her experiences as a small child in the Wlodowa Ghetto, a labor camp, using a false identity while living with a non-Jewish family, a monastery in Krakow and other places Outbreak of the war, 1939; deportation to Wlodowa; absorption of refugees by local Jews; deportation to the Wlodowa Ghetto, 1941; "Aktions", 1942; deportation to a labor camp; camp life including her parents' labor logging trees in a forest; murder of her father; escape; hidden by the camp commander; her mother's labor in the kitchen; labor in the vegetable garden; murder of all male inmates of the camp by the Ukrainian Army; smuggled out to a farmer's family; murder of her mother and uncle by the Germans; in hiding using the identity of the daughter of a deceased Polish officer; transfer to Chelm; fostered by a Volksdeutsche family; approach of the Soviet front; transfer to Krakow; placed in a monastery; life hidden by restaurant owners; return to Krakow.
