Outbreak of the war, 1939; life under Soviet rule; German occupation, 1941; odd jobs for German soldiers; deportation to the Bialystok Ghetto; ghetto life including labor in a textile factory for a Germany company; in hiding in an attic during an "Aktion", 1943; concentration of the Jews in the city square, August 1943; separation from his family members; deportation to a camp; escape via a forest to Radom; joins the Radom Ghetto; ghetto life including labor in a weapons factory; forced labor burying murdered inmates; death march to Dachau, 1944; liberation by the US Army, 1945. Hospitalization; enlists in the US Army in Feldafing; work for UNRRA; enlists in Machal in Wasserburg, 1947; aliya to Eretz Israel via Marseilles on the "Kedmah" ship; participation in Israel's War of Independence; wounded in the battle of Latrun; marriage, 1950.
