Testimony of Zvi Heler, born in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, 1930, regarding his experiences as a child in Plzen and a village in Bohemia until 1939 Middle-class family; looked after by a nanny; work of his parents in a textile shop; his parents were musicians in an orchestra; cultural life; his father is a Zionist, sportsman and member of Maccabi; displays of antisemitism; confiscation of his grandparents factory by the Germans, 1938; his grandmother came to live with them; move with his brother and mother to a farmer's in a village in Bohemia; life using a false identity; abuse in school; the German nanny leaves; move to Trieste; aliya to Eretz Israel with a certificate onboard the "Galilah, 1939. Settling in Beit Yitzhak with the help of the Jewish National Fund, JNF; studies; activities in the Haganah; starts a family.
