German occupation, 1941; incitement against the Jews; family is accused of supporting the Soviets; concentration of the Jews in the Great Synagogue; his brothers labor digging a mass grave; deportation from Iasi, 1941; decrees; deportation of his father to forced labor in Ginyon; Red Army air-raids on the city; the Germans flee; liberation, 1945. His brother joins Gordonia and makes aliya to Eretz Israel, 1945; witness joins Gordonia as his brother did; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1946; in a detention camp in Atlit; joins Haganah and the Palmach; life on Moshav Ometz.
