Outbreak of the war; re-annexation to Hungary; anti-Jewish legislation; ghetto life; his father is in hiding outside of Mukacevo, 1944; contact with his father; liberation by the Red Army. Return to the family home which had been taken over by local residents; drafted into the Red Army; desertion and return to Mukacevo; illegally crosses the border into Hungary; aliya training life in Debrecen; aliya to Israel, 1948, enlists in the IDF.
