German occupation, 1940, escape to southern France; return to Belgium because of displays of antisemitism; deportation of family to the camps; rescue with her brother by the AJB, the umbrella organization of the Jews of Belgium which functioned like a Judenrat; entrusted to non-Jewish families by social workers; end of the war. Aliya to Eretz Israel, 1948.
