Testimony of Samuel Nissenbaum, born in Warsaw, Poland, 1924, regarding his experiences in forests and as a Red Army soldier His father leaves the house; family is under the protection of the Jewish Committee in Warsaw; life in Janusz Korczak's children's home including illness; placed in an orphanage for children with learning disabilities. Outbreak of the war, 1939; his mother's and sisters' deaths in German air-raids; escape in the direction of the Soviet Union; escape to forests; life in the forests including being taken under the wing of a Polish partisan until 1944; drafted into the Red Army until the liberation. Arrest and release, 1946; return to Poland; studies at a high school for the plastic arts; aliya to Israel, 1957; work teaching painting; work as a sculptor and painter.
