Pogrom, 1940; confiscation of the truck by German soldiers in Botosani; her father's work for the German Army; attends Romanian elementary and high schools; active in Hashomer Hatzair; her father's deportation; restrictions on Jews; family move to Bucharest; termination of studies; transfer to Transnistria with her twin sister; crosses the Dniester River, October 1941; life in Shumilov; her mother's death, 1942; deportation to the Bershad Ghetto; ghetto life including an "Aktion" and her uncle's disappearance; fostered by a family whose daughter had been executed; life using a false identity; life in an orphanage in the Balta Ghetto; liberation by the Red Army, 1944. Drafted into the Red Army; return to Bucharest; reunion with her father and brother; her twin sister's life in Dombas; aliya attempt, 1946; life in the Atlit illegal immigrants camp; starts a family; writes a book entitled, "Across the River".
