Documentation from the Chef der Sipo und SD-Umwandererzentralstelle (UWZ) Posen: Guidelines and correspondence regarding arrangements for the deportation of Jews and Poles under the Zwischenplan (interim plan), including reports and train schedules, 1939-1940 In the file: - Documents regarding the arrangement and purpose of the Zwischenplan (interim plan) reflecting the problems and logistic difficulties affecting the number of deportees and the connection between the deportation of Jews and Poles and the resettlement of Volksdeutsche (ethnic Germans born outside the Reich); the Zwischenplan, which was part of the third Nahplan zur Ansiedlung der Volksdeutsche (General Resettlement Plan for the Resettlement of the Volksdeutsche), pertained to 40,000 Polish and Jewish deportees, and was scheduled to end on 15 March 1940; - Guidelines for determining the number of deportees; - Guidelines including itemization of the areas of responsibility of the Transportfuehrer (transport leaders); - Guidelines for the writing of reports regarding the experience and knowledge gained from the deportations until that time; - Correspondence regarding the Zwischenplan for the deportation of Jews and Poles, including guidelines for the deportations, and the names of the UWZ branch heads; - The order of transports from Posen (Poznan), Lodz, Hohensalza (Inowroclaw), Gnesen (Gniezno), Leslau (Wloclawek), Kalisz, Ostrowo, Znin, Mogilno and Konin; - Reports regarding a meeting in Leipzig to discuss the transport schedule (problems, shortages and more); a meeting to discuss issues of special attention concerning the deportation of Jews and Poles, including determination of the number of 4,058 as the number of persons to be deported; - Guidelines for the deportations as planned in the Zwischenplan, starting 10 February 1940; - Final schedule for the deportation trains as planned in the Zwischenplan; - An example of a printed form for deportation reports; - Correspondence urging better cooperation with the Reichsbahn to avoid problems; - Memorandum regarding the orders for the deportation of Jews and Poles, including permission for the deportees to take sufficient food for up to 14 days, warm clothing, blankets, and 20 zloty; - Correspondence regarding problems in finding accommodations for the arriving Baltendeutschen (ethnic Germans from the Baltic States).
