Documentation from the Chef der Sipo und SD-Umwandererzentralstelle Posen (UWZ) regarding deportation of Poles and Jews; a decree of the Fuehrer and Reichskanzler; Guidelines and Orders of the Hoherer SS- und Polizeifuehrer in Posen and head of the UWZ, 1939 The file contains: - A copy of the Decree issued by Adolf Hitler: "Erlass des Fuehrers und Reichskanzlers zur Festigung des deutschen Volkstums" (Decree of the Leader and Chancellor for the Consolidation of German Nationality), 07 October 1939, regarding the resettlement of Volksdeutsche (ethnic Germans born outside the Reich) following the deportation of Jews and Poles from the occupied Polish territory, and entrusting Reichsfuehrer SS Heinrich Himmler with realization of this matter in his role as Reichskommissar fuer die Festigung des Deutschen Volkstums; - Plans and organizational details regarding the deportation of Jews and Poles; deportation of 200,000 Poles and 100,000 Jews to the "rest of Poland" (not specified) between 15 November 1939-28 February 1940; registration of the population according to their nationality, social status and more; inclusion of all politically active Poles in the deportations, necessitating access to lists of party members; juxtaposition of the deportations with the resettlement of the Germans from the Baltic States, Warsaw, Wolhynia and Galicia; deportation of Jews to Lodz only; no economic considerations should influence the deportation of Jews; - Guidelines for the deportation of Jews and Poles from the Wartheland issued in a decree by the Hoehere SS und Polizeifuehrer Posen, following an order by Himmler for the deportation of 100,000 Jews and 200,000 members of the Polish Intelligentsia and politically active Poles to the area south of Warsaw and Lublin, 10 November 1939; - Arrangements for the deportations to be organized by the Reichsbahn, with 900-1,000 people per train car; the guidelines include directives regarding luggage permitted for the deportees, including goods and money; - Decree ordaining the number of deportees (17 November 1939).
