Drafted into the Red Army, late 1940; military service in Leningrad; outbreak of the war, 1941; combat in Finland; transfer to a POW camp in Siauliai; transfer to a different POW camp in Siauliai; escape, 10 May 1942; move to Belorussia; meets partisans; life with the partisans, late 1942; move to the supply department, February 1943; liberation, July 1944.
Enlists in the Red Army and volunteers to serve at the front; participation in the occupation of Warsaw and Berlin; service in Germany until late 1946; return to Osowa; move to Lodz; serves as the executive secretary of a group of people planning to found a Hashomer Hatzair kibbutz; aliya to Eretz Israel via Czechoslovakia, Austria and France on the ship, "Exodus".
