Re-annexation to Hungary; draft to labor battalions, 1939; displays of antisemitism; correspondence with his family; transfer of the labor battalion to Ukraine; escape from a train in Kisvarda; hidden by a Hungarian woman friend; return to the labor battalion and punishment; transfer to Lublin; transfer to Kursk; camp life; transfer on foot to Ozerki; life in Ozerki including labor burying corpses of Red Army soldiers; transfer to the East; escape to Soviet territory with a Hungarian sergeant; capture by NKVD agents and interrogation; transfer to labor in a factory in Satalovka; enlists in the Czechoslovakian Brigade, May 1943; combat in the battle of Kiev; receives medals of distinction; life in the Snyatyn forests; transfer to Krosno, October 1944; transfer to Dukla; wounded, February 1945; hospitalization in Poprad; marriage; life in Brno at the end of the war.
