Childhood and education in the Jewish elementary school in Kaunas.
Outbreak of the war, 1939; life under Soviet rule; activities in the Pioneer movement; German occupation, 1941; murder of his father; move of the family to the ghetto; living conditions; selection, 1941; looting; his mother's and sister's forced labor at the airfield; preserves an observant way of life in the ghetto; deportation with his mother and sister to the Palemonas forced labor camp after selection, 1943; labor in a brick factory; evacuation of the camp to Germany, 1944; separation from his mother in Stutthof; transfer to Dachau and forced labor at Landsberg camp; evacuation on foot to an unknown destination with the approach of the front,1945; liberation by the US Army in the area of Bad Toelz.
Meeting Jewish Brigade soldiers; transfer to an orphange in Treviso-Modena and afterwards to an orphanage in Salvino; orphanage life; studies and help from Arie Avishar, a youth counselor; aliya to Eretz Israel from Bari on the ship, "Chaim Arlozorov", 1946; detention in Cyprus by the British; release and aliya with Youth Aliyah; joins Kibbutz Tzeelim after his army service.
