Testimony of Isaac Yitzhak Pachtman, born in Leipzig, 1925, regarding his experiences in Leipzig, Przemysl, Otwock and on a Kindertransport to England Life in a religious, well-to-do home in Leipzig; studies and activities in Ezra; with the Nazi rise to power his father traveled to Paris, following a warning from a friend, in the hope of getting the family out of Germany; the plan failed and his father remained in Paris and one brother stayed on in Switzerland where he had been on vacation; his sister left the dormitory to work as a housekeeper in England; he and his mother stayed in Leipzig; deportation from Germany, to "Polen Abschiebung" in Przemysl a week before Kristallnacht, 1938; the efforts of his father to get them out of Poland; moved to Otwock with Hamizrachi group; visit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe who gave each boy a written blessing. On a Kindertransport to England, August 1939; the pain of separation from his mother who perished (the details of her death are unknown); his father was murdered in Auschwitz; life in England under the protection of the Board of Deputies of British Jews; drafted at 19 for the British Army Liason unit with France; aliya to Israel, 1972.
